Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about registering your business in Nigeria? Here are detailed, legally verified answers from our CAC filing specialists.

General & Eligibility

Can I register a business with CAC using only my NIN?

Yes! The National Identification Number (NIN) slip or card is completely valid and recognized by the Corporate Affairs Commission for registering Business Names, Limited Liability Companies, and NGOs.

Can civil servants or government employees register a business with CAC?

Under the 1999 Nigerian Constitution (Fifth Schedule), public officers are prohibited from engaging in private trade or business where a conflict of interest exists. However, farming and agricultural enterprises are explicitly allowed under the law.

Can a student or youth corps member (NYSC) register a business?

Yes. Any Nigerian who is at least 18 years of age and possesses a valid government ID (or NIN) can legally register and own a business or company in Nigeria.

Pricing, Differences & Timeline

What is the difference between Business Name and Limited Liability Company (LTD)?

A Business Name (₦30,000) is designed for sole proprietors, freelancers, and small merchants. The owner is personally tied to the business. A Limited Liability Company (₦60,000) creates a separate legal entity with shares, shielding your personal assets and making it investor and contract-ready.

How long does the entire registration take?

Business Name registration takes 24 to 48 hours. Limited Company (LTD) takes 3 to 5 working days. NGO / Incorporated Trustees takes 4 to 6 weeks due to statutory newspaper notice periods.

Are there hidden fees after paying?

No. Our quoted fees (₦30k for Business Name, ₦60k for LTD, ₦150k for NGO) are 100% all-inclusive. They cover CAC filing levies, name reservation, electronic certificate issuance, and official status report download.

Corporate Banking & Tax (TIN)

Can I open a corporate bank account with the online certificate?

Yes! All Nigerian commercial banks (GTBank, Zenith, Access Bank, First Bank, UBA) and digital banks (Moniepoint, OPay, Kuda) accept the electronic CAC Certificate and Status Report we provide.

Do I get a Tax Identification Number (TIN) with my registration?

Yes! CAC is directly integrated with the Joint Tax Board (JTB) and FIRS. An automated TIN is created upon incorporation and is printed directly on your certificate and status report.

Post-Registration & Annual Returns

Do I need to file annual returns every year?

Yes. Under CAMA 2020, all registered entities in Nigeria must file Annual Returns every year to maintain "ACTIVE" status on the CAC public search portal and avoid penalty fees.

What should I do if my business is marked 'Inactive' on CAC?

You can contact our accredited filing team on WhatsApp. We compute your overdue annual returns, pay statutory penalties to CAC, and restore your status to "ACTIVE".
